Beaches, Lakes, and Mountains - a great tour in Croatia, Slovenia & Italy
Unable to run this tour in 2020 we postponed this tour to 2021 using the same dates and itinerary. This tour takes in Croatia, Slovenia and Italy three of our favourite countries that offer fantastic scenery, great biking roads and good value for money.
We start our tour with either an Eurotunnel or Hull crossing to an overnight stop mid France. Crossing the Vosges mountains we pass through the southern Black Forest to a second night on the German/Austrian border. The Austrian Tyrol is next, as we have the opportunity to ride Silvetretta before crossing the Timmelsjoch into the Italian Dolomites.
A two night stop gives us a day to explore the mountains or take a ride-out to the stunning Lake Garda. On departure, we get to ride more of the Dolomites as we head east into Slovenia, where we ride the challenging mountain roads of the Triglav National Park on our way to our 5 star hotel on the Adriatic Coast.
You have 3 nights to relax in 5 star luxury at this lovely hotel in a popular seaside resort. In previous years nobody moved far, but if you want to ride, there are a chain of bridges and ferries that allow you to island hop or perhaps a touch of history with a visit to the Roman Ampitheatre in Pula.
Suitable refreshed we return via Innsbruck and Saarbrucken to the crossing of your choice.
Although the tour has many rest days, it will involve some long days and technical mountain roads, we therefore recommend it primarily for experienced riders who have ridden on the continent before.
This is an Escorted Tour which means that although the guide will be with you, you are responsible for doing your own navigation. We provide a Tour Pack which will include a full itinerary, suggested route directions, Gpx waypoints and hotel location. This system suits many people, as it allows them to ride at their own pace and style, either alone or in small groups. However, if you prefer, you may ride with the guide, who will act as your escort throughout the tour.
Tour prices are inclusive of the following:
- Return overnight Hull-Rotterdam ferry with en-suite cabin or Eurotunnel crossing
- 10 Nights' en-suite accommodation at 3,4 & 5 star hotels
- 10 Regional breakfasts
- 10 Evening meals
- Full use of the hotels' leisure facilities
- Route notes as appropriate - Gpx waypoints
- Guided Day tours
- Services of experienced Tour Guides (Dave & John)
- Undercover parking where available
- Meals onboard ferries
- Tolls / Vignettes
Your hotels' for this tour are of 3,4 & 5 star standard. Your 3 night stay in Croatia will be at a 5 star hotel in a resort on the Gulf of Kvarner. The hotel is situated just above the coastline promenade and boasts it own private beach. Facilities are too long to list, but your stay includes free access to its Five Elements Wellness & Spa Centre, which has swimming pools, a fitness area and a spa relax zone. We are also including undercover garage parking. We are told the hotel has just been renovated but I can not see what they could possibly do to improve it !!
Your stay in the Dolomites will be at a 3 star hotel on the outskirts of a popular ski resort, ideal for touring in the Dolomites or Lake Garda. The hotel like most of the others has a small swimming pool and spa so its worth taking your swimming gear. Accommodation in Slovenia is also situated in a ski resort. This one lies at the foot of the Julian Alps and has all the facilities you would expect of a 4 star hotel. All bedrooms are en-suite with cable TV, phone, Wi-Fi and some with mini-bar & balconies. Leisure facilities include a Fitness centre, sauna, steam bath, Solarium and swimming pool.
All other hotels are a mixture of 3 and 4 star all of good standard and most with leisure facilities.
Value Tour: We believe this tour is especially good value, as all evening meals (mainly buffet style) are included - leaving you only to budget for lunch, petrol and drinks.

With customers from the whole length of the UK and Ireland, we understand that many of our northern clients dislike the ride down to the channel ferry ports – likewise it does not make sense for our many clients from the south to ride north to join a tour at Hull. Therefore, where possible, we arrange the first and last night’s hotel to be within similar riding distance of both Calais & Zeebrugge/Rotterdam.
For your increased comfort we have arranged more spacious 2/4 berth cabins (for 2) on all P&O Hull-Zeebrugge/Rotterdam crossings, and clients using the Southern crossing will have the convenience of crossing the channel using the Eurotunnel service.
The tour will be 2 nights shorter for those customers using the Eurotunnel and they will depart Thursday 19th August - Sunday 29th August.
As always, you may make your own arrangements and we will adjust costs accordingly.
On all European tours (including Southern Ireland) we require clients to take-out some form of Personal Travel and Accident/Breakdown cover. This is essential for repatriation of yourself and your motorcycle in the event of an accident or medical emergency. If you have an existing policy you should check that your company would repatriate your bike, even if undamaged, should you be unable to ride it (many do not!) .
We also strongly urge you to take out insurance that includes cancellation cover in the event of accident, illness or redundancy when you make your booking. Information on such companies can be found on our insurance page http://www.motorcycletours.co.uk/more/travel-insurance.html
