Karen and Martin Lewis

We were sorry to hear from Martin recently that he and Karen had to cancel their Spanish Tour

Knowing how much Martin loves his biking and Karen loves her yearly dose of sun we realised it must not have been an easy decision, but of course these things happen, and Martin explained that he was struggling to hold up the bike due to trouble with his knees, mainly he thought due to riding a Harley in the states a couple of months ago.

Needless to say he got lots of sympathy from me for a) riding a Harley and b) not coming on our USA tour. So it came has rather a shock to receive an email from Karen a few weeks ago to say that Martin had been unwell with constant headaches,  and despite being assured it was just a migraine, a private MRI scan had shown Martin to have a brain tumour.

Karen explains that Martin is undergoing treatment, but the prognosis is not good and time is limited.

Both Martin and Karen requested that I pass these details on to their many friends in White Rose via this blog. He is especially sad that he is unable to say a final good bye personally to the many friends they made whilst touring over the years. However, they both just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone they have met and who helped to make their holidays so enjoyable. Karen says "So suspect we will never meet again but wanted to say how much joy the motorbike holidays gave Martin and myself, they were a big part of our life together and the photos will give me many happy memories."

Although they cannot tour, I know they will continue looking through the gallery pictures to check on old friends.

We wish them all the best, a thought I know will be echoed by everyone who has had the pleasure of knowing them.

I cannot begin to understand how Karen must feel at this moment, but if the feelings of all of us who have known and had the pleasure of this lovely couple can be relayed at this sad time, just how much they were liked and appreciated may help in some small way to help Karen move on.
R.I.P . Martin and my thoughts and best wishes go out to Karen.
    Kind regards - Keith Lovett

Karen, so sorry to hear this sad news, our thoughts are with you, we will miss you and Martin. You were one of the first couples we looked for when the tour pack arrived, always great fun, with lots of disapproving looks from Martin.

Desperately sad to hear the news of Martin's passing. We have spent some really enjoyable times with them on holiday. He was a lovely quiet man with a dry sense of humour. Our thoughts are with Karen and this difficult time.
