Many people are apprehensive about riding in a group, however we use a simple drop off system which allows people to ride at their own pace.

All our tours are at an easy relaxed pace catering for riders of all abilities.

There are frequent stops for fuel, coffee or just to stretch your legs.

Mainly in the UK this is a great introduction to motorcycle touring holidays.

A long weekend in the Dales and Moors of Yorkshire - with a 60's theme

bike friendly roads of the Yorkshire Dales

We did this tour a couple of years ago and it proved so popular, we have been asked to run it again.

The tour is based at the historic Nidd Hall Hotel - 10 minutes from Harrogate, in the Yorkshire Dales.  This traditional hotel is a Grade II listed country house set in some 45 acres of landscaped gardens.  The hotel caters for adults only and has a wide range of facilities, making it ideal for pillions wanting a day off, or perhaps non-riding partners who prefer to arrive by car.

Over the extended weekend, we will be visiting some of our favourite places, with routes taking us through the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Wolds.  If you have not been here before, we feel sure you will enjoy it.

The Dales, of which there are many, all have their own identity.  Most are named after the rivers that run through them, the best known exception being Wensleydale, which is named after the village of Wensley rather than the river Ure. However, you will probably know it better for the cheese made there, it being the teatime favourite of "Wallace and Gromit".   More importantly for us, the Dales provide a network of roads, with everything from scenic single track lanes, to fast sweeping bends - perfect for a day's ride-out.

In contrast, the North York Moors National Park offers fast, open moorland roads with scenic views stretching from the Howardian Hills to the North Sea Coast.  There is the opportunity to visit the quaint market town of Helmsley, a popular bikers' meeting place, before moving-on to the lovely little fishing port of Whitby, famous for its connections with Captain Cook and the inspiration behind Bram Stokers 'Dracula'.  This part of the world has become better known more recently due to the popularity of the ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Royal’ television programmes, and, during the tour, you will see many of the locations featured on TV, including the fictional village of ‘Aidensfield’ whose railway station you may also recognise as Hogsmead station from the ‘Harry Potter’ film.

Whitby
Hutton-le-Hole

Although this is primarily a motorcycle touring weekend, we do understand that many of our customers have non-riding partners, so the extensive leisure facilities at Nidd Hall mean that this weekend will provide them with an alternative to riding, should they prefer.

Within the hotel, there are a large heated swimming pool, spa pool, steam room, sauna and gym facilities.  At a small extra cost, you can also indulge yourself with a range of beauty treatments including massages and facials. Outside, there are numerous activities, ranging from cycling to archery, and the hotel’s extensive grounds are also ideal for anyone looking to just take a stroll and admire the views .

There are many other places to visit nearby, such as the famous Fountains Abbey, the lovely riverside town of Knaresborough, or, just 4 miles away, the elegant Spa town of Harrogate.

In the evening, you will be able to get away from the endless chatter about motorcycles (we do go on a bit) and enjoy live entertainment, as the weekend theme is the 60s.  Music is provided not only by the hotel’s resident band but also the 'Fortunes'

Tour FormatNorth Sea Coast

Day 1: Friday 24th September  Today, you will make your own way to the hotel, which is just north of the lovely spa town of Harrogate.   Your room will be available from 1230 hrs, so if you do arrive early, you can take advantage of the hotel’s extensive leisure facilities.

Day 2: Saturday 25th September  The first day’s tour departs at 0915 hrs and is fully-guided, with no map-reading required. Led by an experienced Guide, you can relax and enjoy the views, knowing that you will be seeing the best scenery, visiting the right places and enjoying some great biking roads. Many people are apprehensive about riding in a group, but we use a simple ‘drop off’ marker system, which allows you to travel at your own pace.  All our Guided Tours are very relaxed - we do ride all day, but take a leisurely lunch break and make several stops for refreshments, photo opportunities or just to stretch your legs.  We will return to the hotel around 1630 hrs.

Day 3: Sunday 26th September  Today will be similar to yesterday’s format, providing further opportunity to admire the beautiful scenery and ride some great roads. During your stay, you are, of course, welcome to take a day off or explore on your own - your guide will be able to advise you on things to see and do in the area.
